The LIU Brooklyn women’s basketball coaching staff is now all set.

LIU Brooklyn women’s basketball head coach Stephanie Oliver chose a familiar face as the new addition to her coaching staff in hiring former University of Bridgeport forward Casey Bray as LIU’s new Director of Basketball Operations. An official announcement has yet to be made but Bray is listed under LIU Brooklyn women’s basketball coaching staff on LIU Brooklyn Athletics website.

Bray, a Staten Island native, played at the Division II school from 2011 to 2015 and was recruited to play at Bridgeport by then head coach, Stephanie Oliver, who got her out of Staten Island Academy. Oliver coached Bray for two seasons from 2011 to 2013 before Oliver left to be an assistant coach at Seton Hall prior to the 2013-14 season. Bray scored 259 points in 95 games in her four-year career at Bridgeport.

Interestingly, Bray was one of several athletes featured in a Champion apparel ad campaign called RealChampions back in 2015 in which Bray talks about her being diagnosed with a disease called Henoch-Schonlein Purpura or HSP for short when she was 17 playing in high school in 2011.

This is Bray’s first coaching opportunity. She is replacing former DOBO Hillary Spears who left LIU Brooklyn after two seasons to become the new DOBO at the University of Massachusetts.

LIU Brooklyn women’s basketball schedule has yet to be officially released but they are expected to open up their 2016-17 season at home against Army West Point on Saturday, November 12th.
