This morning, the Northeast Conference announced their All-NEC teams for women’s basketball and LIU Brooklyn’s junior guard Shanovia Dove and senior guard Shanice Vaughan both were selected to the All-NEC Third Team.
Dove this season led LIU Brooklyn in scoring at 14.5 points per game and was third in rebounding with 5.3 rebounds per game. Her scoring average was good for eighth in the NEC. Dove made 17 starts in 25 games played this season. Dove finished out the season strong with eight straight double-digits games. Dove scored 20 or more points in four of her final six games. She had her best scoring outing of the season with 27 points and 9 rebounds in a 68-66 win at Navy back on December 2nd. Dove increased her scoring average by 6.5 points from her sophomore campaign.
Vaughan took her game to another level in her senior year. She finished second on the team in scoring behind Dove with 12.0 points per game and led the team in assists at 3.41 assists per game which was good for eighth in the conference. She finished third in the NEC in minutes played with 35.4 minutes per game. Vaughan also finished with 4.7 rebounds per game and shot 42.6 percent from the field. She also finished third in the NEC in steals with 2.28 steals per game. Vaughan has five games of 20 or more points scored and played her best game of the season in a January 18th win at Wagner in which she finished with a double-double of 29 points and 10 rebounds.

LIU Brooklyn women’s basketball, who finished as the 7-seed for the upcoming NEC Tournament, will head to Bryant to take on the 2-seeded Bryant Bulldogs on Sunday, March 6th. Tip is scheduled for 1pm and the game can be seen on NEC Front Row.
