LIU Brooklyn has its first award winner of the season.

Today, the Northeast Conference announced via Twitter that this week’s NEC Player of the Week is redshirt junior forward Jerome Frink.

Frink had himself a heck of a debut week for the LIU Brooklyn men’s basketball team. Frink in the three games played last week, averaged 17 points per game along with 8 rebounds per game including a 25 points and 9 rebound performance against Maine last Thursday.

He also averaged 2.3 blocks per game and made, not one but two game-saving blocks in the final seconds of two games last week, one against Loyola (Md.) last Monday and the other on Sunday against North Carolina Central.

Currently, Frink is second on the team in scoring, just .3 points behind LIU’s leading scorer Martin Hermannsson and leads LIU in rebounding and block shots.

Congratulations to Jerome for earning the honor this week. LIU’s next game is a return to the school where Frink started his college career at, when LIU visits Florida International on Wednesday evening.
