LIU Brooklyn men’s basketball announces their 2015-16 schedule w/ update

LIU Brooklyn head coach Jack Perri today on liuathletics.com announced the men’s basketball schedule for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

The Blackbirds will be playing a full 30-game schedule with twelve non-conference games. Here is a game-by-game look at their complete schedule.

Some notes regarding this season’s schedule:

– The Blackbirds will start their season the road for the second straight season with a trip to Baltimore to take on Loyola (MD) on Monday, November 16.

– They will play two games at Barclays Center with their games against North Carolina Central on Sunday, November 22 and against Incarnate Word on Tuesday, December 22 as an opener to that night’s ACC/A10 Challenge doubleheader.

– Maine and Florida International are the only two teams in this season’s schedule in which LIU also played against last season.

– LIU will play UMass Lowell, Incarnated Word, North Carolina Central and UMass for the first time in program history. All games with the exception of the UMass will be played at home.

– The Blackbirds will play against six teams who participated in postseason play last season. Robert Morris, who were the in the NEC champs and played in the NCAA Tournament. St. Francis Brooklyn and North Carolina Central who both played in the postseason NIT and Sam Houston State, Incarnate Word, and Saint Francis U. who all participated in the CIT tournament.

– They will play a season-long four game homestand during NEC play from January 23rd to February 4th when St. Francis Brooklyn, Sacred Heart, Fairleigh Dickinson and Mount St. Mary’s all arrive at the Steinberg Wellness Center. —

– LIU starts their season with three of their first four games at home in Brooklyn. Conversely, five of LIU’s first seven NEC games are on the road.

– The average RPI ranking from last season of their opponent’s this season is 209. The average Kenpom ranking is 232.

Update 9/30 – LIU Brooklyn Athletics announced today that the opening night game against John Jay College on November 13 has been cancelled.  Due to LIU not playing in an exempt tournament this season, they are only allowed to play 29 regular season games so the only non-division I game on their schedule was made expendable and cancelled off the schedule.
