I told you this offseason that LIU Brooklyn would be getting a new look in their uniforms to go along with their new court at the Steinberg Wellness Center. Well, those new Nike LIU Brooklyn men’s basketball uniforms made their debut during the team’s picture day this past Friday and through social media, we got to get a glance at the new threads the Blackbirds will be playing in this season.
@liubasketball on Instagram put out this photo of freshman guard Raul Frias modeling the new unis:
Also, @liuathletics on Instagram gave us all this photo redshirt junior Jerome Frink taking his photos in their new swag:
A couple of players took to Twitter to model the new unis including junior Joel Hernandez and freshman Raiquan Clark.
Here is a side-by-side look at LIU’s jersey from the last three seasons with Glenn Feidanga on the left, next to LIU’s new jersey with Raul Frias on the right.
As the side-by-side photo show, LIU’s new home jerseys have the same “LIU BROOKLYN” font style similar to their logo on the front as they have had the last three seasons but now its in silver with a black outline. Also the “LIU” is much bigger.
The number font and size has changed. The numbers seems now to be clearer and easier to read. I’ve heard several complaints the past few seasons that the numbers in their previous jersey were not easy to read. Now, it looks like that shouldn’t no longer be an issue. No player names on the back of the jerseys continues as some of other pictures have shown.
Although the road uniforms are still a mystery, I will likely assume they will remain in their traditional black unis in either white or silver numerals.
I have to say, these new LIU uniforms are a welcome change and they look great. LIU has yet to officially announce their schedule so we don’t know yet when these new home unis will make their debut. Right now, my LIU schedule tracker has them debuting these new home threads on their November 19th game against Maine, likely at the Steinberg Wellness Center.
