For the second time this season, an LIU Brooklyn Blackbird has earned the Choice Hotels/NEC Rookie of the Week honors. LIU’s Glenn Feidanga with a breakout week was named on Monday co-Rookie of the Week along with CCSU’s Matt Mobley.

Feidanga had a pair of breakthrough performances in 1-1 week for LIU. At Bryant, he had an eye-opening first half of 8 points and 8 rebounds and finished with 8 points and 10 rebounds in the loss to the Bulldogs. Two days later at home at the Steinberg Wellness Center against Mount St. Mary’s, Feidanga set new career-highs in points and rebounds with 15 points and 11 rebounds to collect his first career double-double in the LIU win.

Feidanga averaged 11.5 points and 10.5 rebounds over the two games and he did it while playing just 40 total minutes. He now has lifted his season averages to 4.2 ppg and 4.0 rpg. He is the second LIU player to receive the honor this season. Iverson Fleming was named NEC Rookie of the Week back on December 16th after his 22 point outburst at NJIT on December 12th.

Congratulations to Glenn Feidanga on earning the honor.

Also Congrats to Glen–When will Chris Carter be back–EJ Reed is having the sophmore jinks, hopefully he can catch fire and carry the team down the stretch

    • Chris Carter as of last week was still working around with crutches. His original diagnosis was he was going to be out six to eight weeks. I wouldn’t probably expect him back to probably mid-February. Reed has had a disappointing sophomore season, no question. Fouls had really limited his effectiveness this season. He played well last time out against Mount St. Mary’s. Hopefully that will be the start of the turnaround for this season. He needs to be a 15 and 8 player every night for LIU to be considered a real contender.
