LIU Brooklyn senior forward and reigning NEC Player of the Year Jamal Olasewere was selected to participate in the 2013 Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in Portsmouth, Virginia.
The Portsmouth Invitational Tournament is an annual tournament which invites 64 seniors across college basketball to participate in a four-day, twelve-team tournament with each team consisting of eight players per team. The tournament is played in front of NBA scouts and general managers in the lead up to June’s NBA draft. The tournament is taking place from April 10 through April 13.
Olasewere who finished his senior year with a 18.9 ppg and 8.9 rpg average in winning the NEC Player of the Year. He finished his LIU Brooklyn career as LIU’s all-time leading scorer with 1871 points. His 963 career rebounds put him fourth all-time on LIU’s rebounding list.
Olasewere will play on a team called “Portsmouth Sports Club” and three of his teammates are Andrew Smith from Butler, Arsalan Kazemi from Oregon who previously played at Rice, and Mike Rosario from Florida. He will wear #22.
