For the fourth straight week, an LIU Brooklyn player gets an Northeast Confernce weekly honor. This time, it is 6’7″ senior forward Jamal Olasewere who is named NEC men’s basketball Player of the Week.

Olasewere had a monster game on Thursday against Fairleigh Dickinson in which he scored 30 points and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds in the overtime road win. Olasewere followed that game with a 13-point, 4-rebound performance in which he scored all 13 points in the second-half after getting into foul trouble and playing only six minutes in the first half.

Olasewere is currently third in the NEC in scoring at 18.7 points per game and sixth in the NEC in rebounding at 8.1 rebounds per game. He leads the NEC in points per 40 minutes played with 25.7 and second in the nation in fouls drawn and free throws attempted and is eighth in the nation in free throws made. He also leads the team in steals with 1.8 steals per game and is in the top five in the NEC in steals.

Jamal Olasewere joins Jason Brickman as the two LIU Brooklyn players to be named NEC Player of the Week this season.
