LIU Brooklyn officially announce the signings of Chris Carter and Nura Zanna for next season

Today, LIU Brooklyn athletics officially announced the signings of 6’7″ forward Chris Carter out of Wake Technical Community College in North Carolina and 6’7″ forward Nura Zanna out of Coral Springs Christian Academy in Florida to play for LIU Brooklyn in the 2013-14 season.

You can read the official announcement on LIU Brooklyn athletics’ website here along with quotes from LIU Brooklyn head coach Jack Perri on each player.

Blackbirds Hoops Journal had the signing of Nura Zanna back in October as well as the signing of Chris Carter back in November. You can read the Zanna post here as well as the Carter post here.

LIU Brooklyn has also added 6’3″ guard Jahmal Lane out of St. Benedict’s Prep in New Jersey. Lane has verbally committed to playing for LIU Brooklyn next season. He hasn’t yet signed a Letter of Intent but intends to do so in the regular signing period beginning in mid-April. Lane was working on his academics to qualify so he can be eligible to play at the start of next season. Read more about Lane here.

This leaves Jack Perri with just two scholarships remaining for the spring signing period unless there are changes with the roster after the season which is always a possibility. Julian Boyd will likely hold on to a scholarship if he is allowed to return for a sixth-year of eligibility after his ACL injury which cost him most of this season.

Congrats to Nura Zanna and Chris Carter and welcome to LIU Brooklyn!

    What about Edwards?

  2. Nelson,
Also don’t forget about JUCO/Iona transfer Gilbert Parga. He is a 6’3 strong bodied, dead eye shooter. Definitely a kid who would help the offense spread the floor this year, should be a nice two year fit. Good to see Jack Perri going with two Jukes, and hopefully a healthy Boyd, should keep Brickman a happy man and LIU a contender again.

    • I didn’t forget about him but Praga is already on the team. He is on this year’s roster. He is just ineligible to play this season because he enrolled in classes at Iona over the summer before he transfered to LIU in the fall. I do agree though, I think he is going to be an outside weapon for LIU next season.
