Today, it was learned that LIU Brooklyn transfer Khalil Murphy will be eligible to play immediately this season. He received his waiver to play from the NCAA. His former head coach at the University of San Francisco, former Kansas Jayhawk great Rex Walters tweeted this morning this:

Murphy also weighed in on Twitter with his happiness to receive this waiver to play from the NCAA:

Murphy, who is a redshirt sophomore forward who transferred to LIU this summer. He redshirted his first year at USF and then played in 16 games last season for the Dons but only averaging 1.8ppg. At 6’8″, he becomes the tallest player on this season’s Blackbirds roster. He adds further depth to what now looks like to be a very strong and deep front court for the Blackbirds. According to LIU Athletics website, he will wear number 34 this season. Congratulations to Khalil Murphy and the Blackbirds.
